Review of IDS 2017:
German Federal Minister of Health Hermann Gröhe visits SycoTec

The 37th International Dental Show (IDS) in Cologne closed its doors on 25 March, having seen another record attendance of more than 155,000 trade visitors from 157 countries. With a total exhibition area of 163,000 m² and 2,305 exhibiting companies from 59 countries, IDS is the largest dental exhibition in the world.

The five-day trade fair was also a resounding success for SycoTec. We presented our latest developments together with our sister companies in the Sanavis Group – SciCan (manufacturer of sterilisers and cleaning equipment for dental practices in Toronto/Canada) and MICRO-MEGA (manufacturer of instruments for root canal treatments in Besançon/France).

The highlight of the event was the opportunity to meet German Federal Minister of Health Hermann Gröhe, who visited the Sanavis Group’s trade fair stand during his tour of the exhibition grounds, which he took to find out more about the work of selected companies. Gröhe was accompanied by Dr Martin Rickert, the Chairman of the Association of the German Dental Industry and member of the Sanavis board.

SycoTec was represented at the trade fair by its Dental and Industry business
units. The Dental unit develops and manufactures products such as dental
instruments, micromotors and electronics, dental maintenance and cleaning devices as well as extraction systems for OEM customers. This means that IDS is the most important place for making new leads and improving our relationship with existing customers.

Since IDS 2015, SycoTec’s Industry business unit has successfully established itself on the dental market with a motor spindle developed especially for dental CAD/CAM machines. Dentists and dental technicians use CAD/CAM systems to produce inlays, onlays, crowns and implants.

While the biennial trade fair saw attendance soar to another record high with an approximately 15% rise in visitor numbers compared with 2015, the event was also a complete success for SycoTec and its sister companies in the Sanavis Group, their staff returning home with lots of new contacts and full order books.

The next IDS is taking place from 12–16 March 2019.
